2009 Scholarships

The Michigan chapter of US Lacrosse sponsors approximately four scholarships each year to Michigan high school seniors who have a history of involvement in lacrosse.

The number of scholarships will be determined each year by the Committee based on the number and quality of applications and available funds. The scholarship criteria are based on:

History of lacrosse involvement, both length and depth of involvement

Academics, as evidenced by a high school transcript

Three character reference letters, including at least one from the applicant’s lacrosse coach or school athletic director

Personal essay on how lacrosse has prepared the applicant for college.

Each scholarship amount is $500, with scholarships paid directly to the student. The applicant must provide evidence of enrollment in a college or university in Michigan for fall, 2009 , but need not intend to play lacrosse beyond high school.

Scholarship applications can be downloaded from the website here.
The instructions on the scholarship application take precedence over this general description.
The deadline for receiving a completed scholarship application (including the three reference letters) will be in late April, 2009. Watch for details.

THE SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MODIFY THE REQUIREMENTS AT ANY TIME TO FURTHER THE PURPOSES OF THE SCHOLARSHIP, WITHOUT PUBLICATION
